]]>Marble furniture might not be the first thing you think about when it comes to this spectacular natural stone, but it can be a great way to decorate any space.
The simple understanding of the term is any type of furniture that is made from marble stone. Of course, this can include tables, coffee tables, chairs, benches and desks but even some lesser known types of furniture, such as sculptures or pedestals.
In addition to the fantastic, luxurious aesthetic of marble, this natural stone is highly popular for its versatility in matching all kinds of internal design styles. This is one of the many reasons why you find marble in homes around Australia and across the world, whether it be in living rooms, dining areas, bathrooms, kitchens or hallways.
Marble furniture is fashioned from quarried slabs of stone. This means that not only is there a wide range of styles, sizes, and colours to choose from, but every single piece of furniture is unique and one of a kind. As every slab is different, every subsequent piece of furniture will be equally as original.
On a practical note, the hardy nature of marble that makes it such a popular material for use in flooring and countertops also makes it handy for furniture. With regular and basic maintenance, your marble items will last and look a million bucks for long into the future.
Countertops are popular applications for marble. Whether dining tables, vanity tops or counter tops, these large pieces of a home’s decor and structure offer plenty of scope for bringing to life the hero that is marble stone.
There are a few different ways in which you can use marble in a table application.
If you’re a fan of entertaining and hosting, or just want to elevate family dinners, marble table furniture looks and functions wonderfully.
The coffee table might be humble in terms of height, but it can truly be the focal point of a living room. Using marble in your coffee table can infuse this centrepiece with a sense of wow!
Aside from the durability and hardiness of marble, this stone looks absolutely amazing. That’s why kitchen countertops are a popular choice for marble applications, as are bathroom countertops. Both of these types of furniture need to be up to the challenge of everyday activity but also deserve to look glorious in and of themselves.
Accent tables are so named as they provide a point of visual emphasis. While some can offer practical value, a marble accent table is primarily a decorative piece to help improve the overall aesthetic of a room.
Marble chairs and pedestals can be just as effective and jaw-droppingly beautiful as tabletops. Elegant, minimalist-styled chairs carved from marble are perfect for matching with pre-arranged interior styles or as the cherry on top for a top-to-toe re-styling.
Both light coloured and black marble furniture offer a lot of decorative potential. When it comes to bringing to life and adding a bit of personality to an outdoor space, marble is the perfect option. Stunning, durable and elegant, it’ll elevate just about any outdoor area without making the space feel cluttered.
Marble furniture varies from the very large to the small and contained. Marble sculptures add a lot of elegance and sophistication to a space without taking up a lot of room. Sculptures come in all the range and sizes, and can certainly suit any style.
In fact, there are a ton of different types of sculptures as well beyond just the decorative statuettes. Think bookends, candleholders, paperweights, coasters and other standalone pieces of art.
If you’re willing and able to take your marble sculptures to the next level, larger statues are a great option. Most commonly incorporated in outdoor areas and gardens, there’s still no reason why it can’t be used internally as well. Just remember not to choose a statue that doesn’t suit or overpowers your existing design aesthetic.
When you stop and consider it intentionally, living and dining areas are often adorned with all sorts of accessories. From vases to bowels, using marble accessories can be a subtle and economical way of using this amazing natural stone to excellent effect.
Fireplaces can be made of a variety of materials, but none are as elegant and luxurious-looking as marble. Of course, this natural stone is also heat resistant which makes it useful as well as stunning for a spot prone to higher, concentrated temperatures.
Sideboards are often relied upon for storing important china or cutlery, or anything for that matter. There is no reason why you can’t use a marble sideboard for both practical utility and to decorate your entire dining or living room.

]]>The post Our guide to enhancing your bathroom with marble appeared first on EuroMarble.
]]>Marble stone is one of our favourite ways of enhancing and elevating just about any space in the house, the bathroom included.
However, knowing that you want to incorporate marble is one thing; knowing how to do so is quite something else.
Read on for our guide and tips for using marble to take your bathroom to the next level.
Marble is a type of natural stone that is commonly used in construction and interior design. Made from calcium carbonate and known for its unique pattern of cloudy veining amidst majestic off-white shading, carrara marble in bathrooms is particularly popular.
Fortunately, marble comes in a wide variety of different colours aside from the iconic aesthetic it is most commonly known for. There are white, grey, pink, black, blue, red and green marble slabs available, so you’re bound to find the right style for you and your home.
Marble, like all natural stones, is very hard and highly durable. This makes it fantastic for use in the bathroom where not only will it be exposed to significant amounts of moisture and water, but also a lot of daily activity.
If you’re after an elegant material to uplift your bathroom, marble offers a fantastic solution. Known and associated with luxury for a long time for good reason, few materials can match the natural beauty of marble.
Marble isn’t just durable but actively resistant to everything from heat to staining. With minimal maintenance and resealing every few years, your marble will not just last for ages but will look fantastic as well.
Using marble for bathroom walls, floors or other applications gives you a lot of versatility in choosing the right pattern and colour that suits your overall interior design style. The patterns, colours, and shading available all vary to significant degrees, which gives you the scope you need to find the aesthetic you want.
Marble doesn’t just look great and last well, but it also greatly increases the value of your property. If you’re thinking of investing in your home for potentially selling it in the future, marble is a fantastic way to go.
Natural stone tiles, such as marble, do not use chemicals or other highly polluting substances in its manufacturing. Being quarried and cut to size, it’s a far more eco-friendly way to elevate your bathroom than many other materials.
Marble countertops make for an excellent addition to just about any bathroom. Not only does it look luxurious and stylish, but marble stone’s durability and easiness to clean makes it ideal.
Using it in a contained application such as a bathroom countertop allows you to still incorporate it elsewhere (or not) without the costly requirement of going all out from the outset.
If a marble countertop is too much, perhaps consider a standalone marble sink. This subtle touch of elegance can help to elevate the entire room. There are still plenty of options for customisation here, so don’t worry. From the shade and style of the marble itself to the shape of the sink, there’s a lot to choose from.
Even the bathroom vanity can look fantastic with some marble. Like the countertop and sink, the vanity provides a perfect opportunity to infuse a minimal yet effective amount of marble without breaking the bank.
Backsplashes aren’t just for the kitchen! If you love the look of marble–and who doesn’t–but don’t have the budget you wish you had, a marble splashback can be another fantastic way to make the most with less.
There is no better way to enhance the overall look of your bathroom than with elegant marble floor tiling. Regardless of the style, pattern and shade of marble slab you choose, it will look a treat! Plus, with its high level of durability and resistance to moisture with proper resealing, it’s extremely practical for use as well.
The shower is often considered a sanctuary within a sanctuary. We love the spa-like feel that a marble shower surround provides. If you absolutely love the look and feel of it too but are not sure you’re ready or able to incorporate it across the entirety of the wall(s), the shower is an excellent option.
If you’re ready to go all the way with your stone tiling, using marble for bathroom walls offers plenty of scope and opportunity. Your bathroom will be utterly transformed with sophisticated-looking marble reaching from floor to ceiling.
You might not think of the bathtub as the first or foremost option for applying marble, but it can be a really fantastic opportunity to create a truly jaw-dropping centrepiece in your bathroom.
We often forget to consider the surroundings of our mirror, seeing as we’re so used to looking into the centre of it instead. But the truth is that marble provides the perfect framing material to help bring your mirror, and anyone reflected in it, to life.
Sometimes dynamite comes in small packages. Bathrooms are filled with small accents that can be used to great and cost-effective effect when elevating your bathroom. Knobs, handles, towel racks, tapware and soap dishes can all be found in marble to provide that perfect elegant touch. (P.S. If you’re wondering what colour towels to use in a marble bathroom, make sure to contact us at Euro Marble!)

]]>The post Tile vs Hardwood Flooring appeared first on EuroMarble.
]]>If so, the decision between tiles vs hardwood flooring can be a difficult one.
This is why we’ve decided to put together the definitive guide to all things tile flooring and hardwood to help you out.
The tiles used in flooring are normally made from flat and thin pieces of some sort of hard material such as porcelain, stone, ceramic or glass. Each individual tile material brings with it its own advantages and disadvantages.
Of course, there are also natural stone tiles that prove to be highly popular among new home constructions and renovations. From granite to marble, stone makes for a wonderfully durable and hardy tile material.
Regardless of the type of tiles used, these versatile construction blocks can be applied in areas of the home beyond just the flooring. Splashbacks, countertops, pool edging and walls are all commonly constructed with tiles. Because tiled surfaces are by definition made from multiple different pieces, there is a lot of versatility in patterns, colouring and styles available.
It’s important to consider the different pros and cons of tiles vs floorboards.
Tiles can prove to be long-lasting and highly durable when used on surfaces , especially in areas that tend to be exposed to moisture, high levels of activity and foot traffic.
While some tile materials are better than others, tiling in general is quite resistant to both staining and moisture. With proper grouting and sealing, everything from natural stone to ceramic tiles can more than stand up to the daily needs of a household.
Tiles are smooth and hardy which makes them quite easy to clean. With minimal investment of time, effort and money, you can maintain them and keep the tiles looking as good as new.
Tiles can be found and arranged in a near limitless range of colours, patterns and styles. This gives you all of the versatility in aesthetics you need to suit your personal preferences.
Tiles, especially in the winter, can be prone to feeling cold to the touch. If you’re a fan of walking barefoot throughout the house and are also quite sensitive to the cold, this may need to be considered. Of course, tiles can also be somewhat slippery, but there are plenty of anti-slip solutions if you’re so inclined.
Tiles are made of thin slabs of material which means that in the event that a heavy object is dropped on them, they can chip or crack.
In addition to the cost of the particular material, which does vary, tiles do require a significant amount of labour. This makes them somewhat more expensive in general to install.
The term hardwood refers to flooring made from many individual planks of wood. Most commonly the planks are arranged in long strips and are often rectangular in shape so that they tessellate easily. Some of the most common forms of wood used for hardwood flooring include oak, maple and hickory, though there are others.
The wood, once cut from the species of tree of choice, is sanded to the point of being smooth, stained and then sealed to protect it from activity and moisture. When it comes to installation, hardwood is stapled or nailed to an underfloor but can also be floated on top of an under layer of construction foam.
If one so chooses, you can even stain, paint and/or varnish the panels further to achieve a particular look and style. Hardwood is popular for its durability, beauty and warm, earthy aesthetic.
Here are some of the most important factors to consider when choosing between tiles vs floorboards.
Like tiles, hardwood floors are actually quite easy to keep clean. The smooth finish and hard surfaces mean that ongoing maintenance and care doesn’t cost too much or require a lot of effort.
One of the most appealing benefits of hardwood flooring is the warmth they bring to a home. Without having the hassle of carpets, they help bring a tangible and aesthetic warmth to the entire house.
Hardwood, being popular and durable, can often increase the value of a home. If you’re interested in investing in your house for a future resell, hardwood can be a great asset.
Hardwood, though still quite durable, can get scratched. Dragging furniture or excessive activity has the potential to leave its mark.
Hardwood can be affected negatively by high levels of temperature, moisture and humidity. While in most cases moderate climates won’t be a problem, if you’re anticipating high levels of any damaging elements, it’s important to take this point into account.
Every so often it is recommended to refinish your hardwood to keep it gleaming, beautiful and looking as beautiful as possible.
If you’re not sure whether tile vs hardwood flooring is right for you, make sure to get in touch with us today. The Euro Marble team are experts in all things natural stone and flooring. We’ll be more than happy to talk and walk you through your options based on your preferences, needs and budget.
Of course, we’re the biggest fans of natural stone flooring around, but we’re still more than happy to chat through the pros and cons of both tiles and floorboards.

]]>The post How to Style a Marble Coffee Table appeared first on EuroMarble.
]]>Marble stone can be used just about everywhere and anywhere in the home. From the kitchen floor to the entryway and from your bathroom to your staircase, marble looks and functions wonderfully. One of perhaps the lesser known applications of this fantastic natural stone is the humble coffee table.
Marble coffee tables are becoming more and more popular but remain one of the lesser known applications. If you’re considering different ways of incorporating marble in your home, we’d highly recommend the coffee table.
Coffee tables come in all sorts of styles, sizes and shapes. Normally, they are placed in the centre of a living room, lounge or sitting area.
With the primary purpose of providing a surface for holding drinks, snacks, books, and other items that you may want to have within reach from the couch or sofa, many people miss out on the potential styling a coffee table has to offer.
Choosing marble for your coffee table can turn an almost purely functional piece of furniture into a focal point and stylish centrepiece in and of itself. You and your family or guests are bound to sit around the coffee table and socialise, so why not make the most and turn it into something spectacular?
Of course, styling a coffee table in the right way can be easier said than done. After all, you don’t want the table to seem empty nor do you want to overshadow the hero of the marble itself. To help you, here are some ideas to get you started with discovering how to style a coffee table.
One of the important first decisions to make when styling a marble coffee table is to consider the colours. Think about the colour of the marble itself and consider which contrasting or complementary colours you want to use in your styling. If your marble coffee table is a strikingly bold colour, you may want to opt for neutral accessories so that the aesthetic isn’t too overwhelming. If you have a neutral coloured coffee table, think about what sort of colours you want to infuse into the space to bring the table and its surroundings to life.
Somewhat counterintuitively, the aesthetics of a marble coffee table styling isn’t just about how it looks. To add visual interest to your marble coffee table, incorporate a mix of textures and materials into your decor. This could mean opting for a plush throw blanket or a raised patterned pillow on your sofa. Most coffee tables are smooth, clean and polished, so think about how you can incorporate some contrasting texture.
Playing around with heights is a strong way to create a lasting (and positive) visual impression. Neatly stacked books, vases of flowers, pot plants or even a decorative basket or box beside the table can create a nice visual eye line that is engaging without being overwhelming or off putting.
Focal points are important for interior design, and all visual design for that matter, as you, your family and your guests’ eyes will all naturally focus on one thing to begin with. By putting care and consideration into your focal point you can help to influence what that one first impressionable thing is. A marble coffee table can be a beautiful focal point in your living room on its own, so consider styling it to draw the eye. Think of a sculpture or a vase if you’re looking for accessories. In terms of the rest of your lounge or room, think about how your furniture can be arranged in a natural way that places the coffee table in the centre. Even lighting in the form of a table or floor map can be used effectively in this regard.
When it comes to marble coffee table styling, keep it simple. Believe us when we say that less really is more. By avoiding clutter and limiting the number of accessories and decor items on the table, you can ensure the focus remains on the beautiful marble table itself. This will help to create a sense of balance and harmony in your living room as well as hero the coffee table.
If you’re confident with your coffee table styling, an array of accessories can be deftly displayed in a seemingly random order. For the rest of us, simple and elegant trays can be an excellent way to group items together in a manner that seems cohesive and intentional. It also helps to keep the rest of your marble table as clean and uncluttered as possible.
Just because we’re known for our big marble projects like kitchen benchtops, staircases, flooring and vanities, doesn’t mean we’re not passionate about marble coffee table styling too.
If you’d like to come into our showroom to view our jaw-dropping selection of marble or you’d simply like to help styling a marble coffee table you already have, make sure to reach out to our team today.

]]>Of course, marble’s iconic aesthetic is white or offwhite with cloudy grey veining. However, marble comes in a variety of colours and green marble can look absolutely fantastic!
Marble is a type of metamorphic rock that is formed in the earth when limestone is subjected to high pressure and high temperatures over a sustained period of time.
During this process the limestone recrystallises. This results in a rock with a distinctively grainy aesthetic. Marble can be formed into a range of different colours such as white, grey, pink and–of course–green.
Marble has been popular for use in construction and design for centuries. From countertops to flooring and fireplaces to stairs, there are a ton of applications marble is perfect for thanks to its beauty and hardiness.
Green marble occurs when the limestone–during its formation into marble–contains a higher amount of serpentine. This mineral is what gives the marble its distinctive green colour.
Even among green marble slabs there’s a wide variety of different patterns, shading and styles. Because marble, like all natural stone, is quarried directly from the ground, every single slab is unique and quite unlike any other piece of marble in the world.
Marble is popular for a number of practical and aesthetic reasons.
One of the primary reasons marble is popular is its beauty. Marble, no matter the colour, looks beautiful and luxurious and can elevate any space in the home. We know that we might be biased, being called Euro Marble and all, but we simply don’t think anything measures up to the stunning gorgeousness of marble.
Marble is also a highly practical material because it’s durable and hardy. With some basic and regular maintenance, marble can withstand heavy traffic and lots of activity whether in the bathroom, kitchen or living room.
While marble might require more of an initial cost than some other materials, its hardy nature and luxurious quality means that this is one investment with a high return. Marble is known for increasing property resale values and will be sure to impress potential buyers.
Have you considered using a green marble slab for your kitchen benchtop? Green marble is a great choice for kitchen countertops, as it adds a touch of luxury and elegance to what’s normally relegated to just a practical, functional space. Green stone can also be paired with a variety of different cabinet and backsplash colours, allowing you to infuse your personal preferences while still being able to create a cohesive and stylish look.
Green marble tiles make for a perfect splashback. The splashback offers a lot of potential to inject a bit of colourful and life to the kitchen without having to commit to something with potential to become too overwhelming. Whether you opt for classic subway tiling, herringbone or any other pattern, green marble will look an absolute treat.
A green marble coffee table will not only look great but it will certainly be a centrepiece for conversation as well. Coffee tables come in all shapes and sizes, but most of them are run-of-the-mill, practical pieces of furniture. With green marble you can take a relatively boring item of the home and create something absolutely wonderful with it.
We love the thought of green marble anywhere but incorporated in a fireplace is one of our favourite options. Whether you opt to use large green marble slabs or smaller tiles is up to you. Eithway the colourful, rich aesthetic will make the entire fireplace pop whether or not there is actually a fire burning inside.
Marble is a common material for use in bathrooms. Thanks to its hardy nature, though it does need resealing in areas where there is high exposure to liquid and water, marble will stand the test of time. While green marble tiles make for an excellent option for flooring and wall cladding, the bathroom vanity is another often underutilised feature. With green marble, your vanity will look an absolute treat.
Subtle toned green marble tiles can quite spectacularly elevate your home’s flooring. Whether you use it minimally or throughout the home, the stunning shades and patterns will infuse a sense of nature and wonder to your house. We especially love green flooring matched with white or other neutral toned walls.
Take one look at a gorgeous green marble slab and we guarantee you’ll fall in love. However, incorporating green in large measure in your home may not be the path you’re ready to take. Yet. Fortunately, a feature wall offers the best of both worlds. If you want to make a bold design statement in your living room, consider using green marble on a wall or two as a focal point. It will help break up the space in an appealing way.
Staircases receive their fair share of foot traffic, which is why marble is a popular choice of material thanks to its hard-wearing nature. Using green marble in your staircase is an effective and bold way of making a fashion statement in your home. You can choose deep, rich green tiles that will create a moody atmosphere or lighter green slabs that will certainly create a sense of nature and greenery. The choice is up to you.
Whether you know exactly what sort of green marble you’re looking for and know exactly how you want to incorporate it into your home, or you’re just wanting an expert to bounce ideas off and talk through your options, we can help.

]]>However, if you’re looking to elevate your kitchen without losing the minimalist design, we have got a number of ideas just for you.
A minimalist kitchen is a design aesthetic that focuses on two things primarily: simplicity and functionality. With a sleek and modern appearance, often kitchens designed in this way feature limited colour palettes, minimal accessories and decor, and simple yet geometric forms.
The aesthetic aims to promote a sense of calmness and order by keeping everything visually clean and spatially uncluttered. Of course, a key component of a minimalist kitchen design is also functionality. A well designed kitchen will ensure that everything you need for cooking and entertaining is available and accessible without any unnecessary clutter.
Minimalism is popular in interior design, and especially in kitchens, for a number of reasons.
A minimalist kitchen can create a sense of calmness and simplicity in a space where there is actually a lot of hustle and bustle. During our fast-paced, busy lives this can be a welcome relief.
Minimalist kitchen designs can also make a somewhat smaller space feel more spacious and open, which can be useful in smaller homes , units or apartments. In addition, minimalist designs often use a narrow range of colours, which can make a space feel increasingly cohesive and harmonious.
Thanks to the more uniform use of colours and limited aesthetic features, it can be easier for a homeowner to style a kitchen, or any room of the house, in a way that works visually.
Finally, minimalistic design styles can be more budget-friendly than other options as it often uses fewer accessories and decor items. When the goal is a clean, sleek look the more items you add, the less you achieve your stylistic aim.
While many people love a completely minimalist kitchen, there are some subtle yet impactful ways in which you can elevate the space. Whether you’re working in a small kitchen or on a tight budget, here are some ideas to consider.
A feature or a statement piece can help to break up the matching colour in your kitchen and add an element of flair visually. There are many ways in which you can add a feature: think a boldly coloured wall, a backsplash, piece of artwork or even graphic wallpaper. As long as it suits your preferred aesthetic and doesn’t clutter the space, a feature can be a great addition.
Natural stone comes in all styles, colours, patterns and shades, which makes it excellent for any kitchen. Whether you use a stone slab as your benchtop or as wall cladding is up to you. Plus, thanks to its durability and hardiness, stone isn’t just a great aesthetic choice it’s also practical as well.
Incorporating natural materials into your minimalist kitchen design is an excellent way to softly touch up the space. Think about using different woods to add a bit of warmth and texture. If you find the minimalist design a little cold but don’t want to feel like the space is cluttered, natural elements can go a long way.
While we’re on the subject of nature: Adding greenery and incorporating plants into your minimalist kitchen will inject a sense of life and beauty into the already spectacular space. On a totally unrelated note, some natural greenery and plants can also help to improve the air quality in your kitchen, which can come as a welcome relief during your preparation and clean-up times.
Kitchen lighting needs to be functional, first and foremost, but it can also create an atmosphere. Think about different lighting styles, such as downlights or dimmers, and how they can create a cozy and inviting yet still minimalist atmosphere in your kitchen.
One of the key elements of a minimalist design is geometric forms. By playing around with the proportions of your kitchen, for example opting for oversized pendant lights or cabinet handles, you can invoke a sense of visual depth and interest without making the room feel too busy.
From handles to faucets, all kitchens need tapware and fixtures. Luckily, these items come in all manner of styles, shapes, sizes, finishes and colours. By introducing a bit of colour in your fixtures, you can bring the minimalist kitchen design to life without sacrificing any of the practical benefits of the style.
One key tip to bear in mind is that all interior design styles but minimalist kitchens in particular need to be balanced visually. It can be hard to find the right amount of simplicity versus sophistication, but by paying a high level of attention to detail and using a bit of creativity you can enjoy the best of all worlds: a stylish, functional and minimalist kitchen space!
The team here at Euro Marble love getting stuck into all manner of home renos. We bring our expertise and experience in all things natural stone to the table (no matter what material it’s made of)!
Whether you’d like to discuss more minimalist kitchen design ideas or want to arrange a time to come into our showroom to peruse our stone slabs for yourself, get in touch with us today.

]]>The post Kitchen Peninsula vs Kitchen Island appeared first on EuroMarble.
]]>As with most choices when it comes to home design and construction, the right option will depend on personal factors, needs and preferences. The same is true with kitchen peninsulas and islands. Everyone’s home is different and unique and the way you use your kitchen should be complemented by its design.
However, there are some clear differences and key benefits between peninsulas and islands. Let’s dive in and find out more.
Kitchen islands have become increasingly popular over the last few years. As its name suggests, the island is a free standing kitchen benchtop that allows one to stand on any and all of its sides. Kitchen islands come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and styles and can incorporate benchtops of a variety of different materials, such as natural stone.
The purpose of a kitchen island is to try and open up the space to free flowing movement around and in/out of the kitchen itself. As more and more homes are moving towards open plan designs, the preference for an island in the kitchen has increased as it decreases the barriers and obstacles in the room.
The kitchen peninsula is similar to an island but with one key difference: Instead of being completely free standing and open on all sides, the peninsula is open on all but one of its sides. Instead, like a peninsula landform, this kitchen bench is actually an extension of the main kitchen cabinetry, sink and benchtop space.
Very versatile in terms of design and use potential, kitchen peninsulas allow one to make the most functionally of any space and in turn compromise on free flowing movement on all of its sides.
As mentioned above, the right option for your kitchen will largely depend on your particular context and needs. However, to help you out, here are the main factors to consider when making your decision.
Small, compact and tightly designed kitchens may not be suitable for a kitchen island. While designed to allow people to pass on either side, an island still takes up space and being free standing it needs enough room on every side to allow someone to pass unobstructed. The kitchen is a room of the house that sees a lot of activity and movement, so adding a feature that will cause congestion is not a great idea.
A kitchen with a peninsula, on the other hand, allows for an extension of benchtop space for food prep and cleanup but will not necessarily restrict the space too much. While islands need to be in the middle of a kitchen, peninsulas by their nature can be tucked into corners or economically designed to add a bit more surface area without taking up too much floor space.
The layout of a kitchen is a very important and influential thing. You may have heard of the kitchen triangle: The classic design approach seeks to ensure an unobstructed triangle of access between the stove, the refrigerator and the sink. This highly practical kitchen ‘rule’ allows you to work and prepare food without having to move too much and without too much interruption.
Think about how a kitchen island or peninsula will change your access to the important areas of your kitchen. For some kitchens, adding a peninsula is the smart way to increase benchtop space without impacting on the general flow of the room. Whilst in other kitchens the benefits of having an independent and free-standing island is your best bet.
Both a kitchen peninsula and an island can look utterly fantastic in a kitchen. There are a wide variety of materials, colour schemes, tones, patterns and shades to choose from. Whether you opt for opulent marble or even engineered stone, the potential for creating something beautiful and bold is nearly limitless.
Having said that, kitchen islands do offer more design versatility than peninsulas. Being attached to the rest of the kitchen, your kitchen peninsula needs to match in terms of material and colour. Otherwise it could look disjointed. A kitchen island, on the other hand, stands apart. This gives you the creative space to either choose a complementary colour and style or to design something bold and different as an independent feature.
Price is a pain point for just about every construction and renovation process. While the size, material and design of your kitchen benchtop is going to be hugely influential in the end, generally a kitchen peninsula is the more cost effective option. With less structural work needed, often less material, and probably less labour, you can save more by opting for a peninsula.
Kitchen islands, depending on your application, can require significant work and structural construction. This is especially true if you’re adding sinks, cooktops, dishwashers or even internal storage to your kitchen island.
Thinking about your long term plans and goals for your home is another smart way to approach the choice between a kitchen island or peninsula. Kitchen remodels and renovations can drastically increase the resale value of a home, when done cleverly and right.
To that end both a peninsula and an island in a kitchen can offer a strong long term return on your investment. As mentioned above, the choice will ultimately come down to the size, layout and overall style of your kitchen. The more complementary and suitable your end decision, the better its impact on the appeal and value of your house will be.

]]>So, if you are renovating your bathroom, it’s important to create not just a space for bathing, but somewhere you can enjoy spending time in to just get away from it all and have some valuable ‘me-time’.
For this reason, it’s imperative that you give close consideration to creating a functional space but also a special place for relaxation. Below are some key trends for creating a beautiful and luxurious bathroom in 2018:
Few things command attention in a luxury bathroom like a sleek standalone bathtub. The genius of modern designers has made this an option for all shapes and sizes of bathrooms even the more spatially-challenged. Options range from slim, compact tubs all the way to grandiose, luxury roll top baths.
Hear us out on this one! Our Asian neighbours Japan, have long since led the field when it comes to building toilets that do more than just flush, however 2018 looks like the year high-tech toilets will reach Australian shores in a big way.
Features will include automatic lid openers and closers, seat warmers, an air-dryer, built-in deodorizers and even nature sounds playing while you use the throne!
One trend which will be equal parts functional and aesthetic in 2018 is more emphasis placed on the location and types of lighting used in bathrooms around Australia.
A luxurious and relaxing space will be created using dimmers, light bars, wall sconces and even small pendant lights. For large bathrooms consider a chandelier as a feature piece in the centre of the room or close to a hot-tub for an elegant and glamourous vibe. These additions will assist with functional tasks such as shaving and makeup application while creating a warm, striking space.
For many years, the inclusion of natural stone tiles in bathrooms has been the benchmark of luxury and this isn’t going away for the foreseeable future.
In 2018, larger natural stone tiles will grow in popularity with less grout required thus having the benefits of easier cleaning and maintenance along with their trademark striking aesthetic. Marble bathrooms will see a surge in popularity this year especially with grey, white and dark marble being at the forefront of style and sophistication in designer bathrooms across Australia.
Here at Euro Marble, we are industry-leaders in natural stone for commercial and residential use in Australia especially marble, granite, limestone and onyx. For any natural stone needs and to speak a friendly expert, please drop into our Sydney showroom, call or email us today.

]]>Whether you’re planning a renovation on a budget or just looking for a simple way to reinvigorate the style and aesthetic of your living room, there are many ways in which modern wall cladding can be utilised to great effect.
Cladding, in construction, refers to attaching a material to the exterior or outer skin of a wall. Cladding can be made from a variety of different materials, including natural stone or wood. Even metal and fibre cement have been used in wall cladding applications.
In essence, it can be considered as a form of ‘skin’ placed over the existing walls.
Interior wall cladding is applied to the internal walls of one’s home. Whether it’s the bathroom or living room, using cladding on the walls of your home can change the entire look of a space. Generally, it is used purely for aesthetic purposes but there are occasions where there can be a functional element to its installation as well.
While some home renovators opt to rather paint a wall (or walls), wall cladding offers a greater opportunity to infuse elegance, warmth and homeliness. By attaching a new material to the wall itself, it’s not just the colour scheme that can be transformed, but the texture, style and overall visual appeal of the entire room too.
Renovations can get expensive! If you’re working on a tight budget or just looking for ways in which you can save some extra dollars, opting for wall cladding is a smart way to go. Instead of replacing a wall completely and requiring materials for rebuilding the structure from scratch, wall cladding simply adds a veneer of material over the existing walls. Less material and less labour translates into money saved!
Adding cladding to your interior walls is an effective way to painlessly achieve a whole new look in your home. By carefully choosing the right material and aesthetic, wall cladding allows you to overhaul the style of your home without making structural or extensive changes. Whether you’re wanting to merely refresh the overall look or achieve something more substantial, cladding is a highly effective way of going about it.
Many of the benefits of wall cladding revolve around the aesthetic visuals of adding a new material to an existing wall. But there can also be significant practical value. If you’re looking to add better or new insulation to a wall or wanting to add a protective outer layer to an interior wall, cladding can be just the solution.
From a maintenance perspective also, well chosen and professionally installed wall cladding doesn’t require extensive tender love and care to keep it looking and functioning beautifully.
The living room is a popular space in the house to add some wall cladding. As its name suggests, a lot of time is spent in living rooms simply living! That’s why it’s important that you absolutely love the look and feel of the space itself. If it needs a bit of a refresh or even a top-to-toe redo, wall cladding can be an excellent option.
So how do you infuse a touch of elegance through modern interior wall cladding? Two words: Natural stone.
At Euro Marble, we specialise in all things natural stone, including wall cladding. We’ve been involved firsthand in transforming living rooms by using stone cladding.
While some customers make the mistake of assuming that there is a single visual aesthetic to natural stone, the truth is there is a ton of variety in shade, tone, colour and patterns. From the classic look of white and grey to blues, reds, golds, greens and pinks, there’s truly something for everyone.
When it comes to elegant interior cladding, however, we highly recommend two different options:
Nothing symbolises elegance and opulence quite like marble stone. There’s still plenty of variety in terms of colour and shade. While we, and many of our customers, absolutely love the iconic milky white/grey veining visual of classic marble, there are many other options as well.
Marble is a highly durable natural stone, which makes it perfect for interior wall cladding as it’s both fashionable and functional. Thanks to its timeless aesthetic, marble is great for application in both traditionally-styled and modern living rooms.
Limestone is another excellent choice of natural stone. The unique way in which this stone is formed at the bottom of water repositories endows it with a visual style that simply can’t be matched. The earthy and natural shades and tones make for an excellent choice of modern interior wall cladding.
Much like marble, limestone is durable and hard wearing with the right maintenance and care. While the range of colour options available is not as wide as with other stones, there are still a number of different shades of limestone ranging from beige to grey and brown.
For over 30 years, Euro Marble has been using our craftsmanship and passion for all things marble and natural stone to achieve wonders for our customers.

]]>To help you on your journey to achieving a bathroom that will excite and delight you day in and day out, we’ve put together some modern bathroom tile ideas.
Keeping to a single colour tone makes a lot of your bathroom design easier. Apart from the fact that light colours in a bathroom add a sense of visual space, it also allows you to keep the design both modern and timeless. Of course, there’s no reason for your entire bathroom to be devoid of other colours. But with a single colour tone for your tiles, it’s easier to achieve that modern look. When it comes to infusing other colours elsewhere, keep reading our other modern bathroom tiling ideas.
Colour can be really effectively used to create a sense of visual depth to a space without cluttering the room. For a bathroom, this is invaluable. That’s why we love the modern design style of using white or off-white tiling across the floor and walls juxtaposed with dark or black accents, tapware and cabinet handles. This simple and minimalist contrast achieves a lot with a little in a modern bathroom aesthetic.
Perfect for those of you on a tight budget, tiling just your bathroom shower with beautiful natural stone can actually bring your entire bathroom to life. As it is likely the largest section of your bathroom, the shower offers plenty of scope to work as an independent design feature, and the gorgeousness and practicality of stone tiling is the perfect answer.
There are a lot of fantastic ways in which you can utilise tiles in your modern bathroom, but if you’re looking for something that strikes a delicate balance between modern and classic subway tiling is a safe bet. This standard tile style is clean and minimalist to look at but offers enough complexity and depth to infuse your bathroom with personality.
Subway tiling might not be for everyone. If you like your tile design to be a little funkier without jumping off the deep end, herringbone floor tiles are an excellent option. While you certainly can opt for bold and strong colour schemes, we do recommend sticking to neutrals if you really want to achieve that timeless yet modern bathroom style.
We just love marble. This classic stone tile really does look great anywhere in the house, your modern bathroom included! Stunning to look at and durable for an environment exposed to a lot of water, moisture and steam, marble stone is as practical as it is beautiful. Importantly, the classic white-toned with grey/silver veined aesthetic of marble is an excellent way of creating a bathroom that is simultaneously classic and modern.
For those of you who love marble but want to utilise this amazing natural stone in new and interesting ways, you can consider hexagonal tile designs.
As far as modern bathroom tile ideas go, this one is among the more bold… And beautiful. Marble stone makes for an exquisite choice of tiling material to turn any bathroom into something luxurious and modern. While you can choose more generic rectangular, square or larger slabbed tiling, hexagonal tiles are a modern design trend that can really do wonders to a space. Whether you opt to tile the entire bathroom floor or just the area around your bathtub and/or vanity is up to you and your budget.
For modern bathrooms, we often recommend sticking to neutral and minimalist tones. However, that doesn’t mean your aesthetic needs to be boring! One excellent tile idea is to actually use different tiling styles across different sections of the bathrooms. This keeps a sense of motion and complexity to the space without actually causing a headache. It gives you plenty of opportunity to mix and match different layering styles you like and highlight certain sections of your bathroom.
In contrast to our very first tip in this list, if you’re feeling bold and want your bathroom to reflect that you can always consider putting in a feature wall. (Sometimes referred to as a statement wall as well.) This provides an opportunity to express a little creativity by choosing alternate colours or patterns of tiling that will contrast but also complement the rest of the bathroom space. Carefully consider which wall is best in your bathroom. For example, the wall behind a bathtub is an excellent place for a feature wall.
A delicate mix of grey and white floor tiling might not sound exciting, but it can look utterly stunning in a modern bathroom context. This minimalist colour palette keeps your overall tone consistent but allows for a bit of visual depth and interest without becoming overpowering or overwhelming.
While both stone (in your shower) and marble have appeared on this list a few times already, we think natural stone deserves an entry of its own. Hard wearing, long lasting and utterly beautiful there is still plenty of scope to choose material, style, shade and colour with natural stone. As far as modern bathrooms go, nothing brings classy and contemporary styling to a space better than stone.
Every bathroom is different. When thinking about how to incorporate tiling, think about what your bathroom’s strengths are. For example, high ceilings should be capitalised on with floor to ceiling wall tiling. Bathrooms with a lot of natural light and windows can be brought to life with brighter coloured tiling. Simply put, make sure to play to the strengths of your bathroom.
As the leading supplier and fabricator of marble and stone throughout Sydney, we know a thing or two about putting together modern bathrooms!
